ResChem, a Smithers company, is based in Derby, England. The laboratory was established in 2014 by Derek Brown and Gareth Watson.
ResChem specialise in pesticide residue analysis and conduct regulatory studies on behalf of agrochemical companies for the registration of plant protection products. We have been a member of the United Kingdom Good Laboratory Practice Compliance Monitoring Programme since 2015.
Derek Brown (BSc (Hons), MSc, CSci, CChem, MRSC)
Derek Brown, Director, ResChem, a Smithers company, fulfils the role of Test Facility Management and GLP Operator. He has 40 years of experience in the field of pesticide residue analysis and has worked in a GLP environment for over 35 years. He previously established, developed, and managed analytical facilities for two contract research organizations.
Derek has experience in analytical method development and specializes in GC-MS. He delivers training sessions for clients and co-operating partners in pesticide residues analysis.
He received his BSc (Hons) in Applied Biochemistry at Liverpool Polytechnic, and his MSc in Analytical Chemistry from London University (Birkbeck College).
Gareth Watson (BSc (Hons), MRSC)
Gareth Watson, Director, ResChem, a Smithers company, fulfils the role of Study Director and Team Leader. He has 20 years of experience in the field of pesticide residue analysis in a GLP environment and has successfully managed a wide portfolio of studies in his current role and his previous role as a team leader at a large contract research organization.
Gareth specializes in method development, method troubleshooting, and LC-MS/MS. He received his BSc (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Aberdeen.
